Our groups

Specialist groups and country groups around the world help us achieve our goals

Through our global network of Cochrane Groups, we harness a wide variety of specialist interests, skills and knowledge that help us create high quality, relevant health evidence.

Thematic Groups

Our Thematic Groups look to the future, ensuring we are responsive to the needs of the people who use our evidence. These groups particularly focus on making sure we collaboratively produce relevant, high quality work that has integrity.

Evidence Synthesis Units

Our Evidence Synthesis Units are multi-topic research groups that focus on developing high-quality, timely evidence syntheses in response to diverse stakeholder needs. The units all have methodological expertise, local knowledge and access to a network of Cochrane experts, enabling them to produce high-quality evidence that supports health systems, policy, and practice worldwide.

The geographic spread of the new units reflects our commitment to producing evidence that helps to improve people’s health worldwide. Beyond generating high-quality evidence syntheses, the units will also adopt innovative methods, promote health equity and champion research integrity and strengthen or develop stakeholder partnerships to support our long-term sustainability.

Review Groups

Our Review Groups are responsible for producing high-quality systematic reviews, in an efficient and timely way, which address the most important research questions for decision-makers/health service providers and/or individuals.

Geographic Groups

We have official Geographic Groups in more than 50 countries. These groups represent Cochrane in that country: they promote and support the use of Cochrane evidence in health policy and practice, and support Cochrane's members and supporters who live there.

Methods Groups

Our Methods Groups provide policy advice and focus on developing the methods used to produce Cochrane reviews.

Fields and Networks

Our Fields and Networks focus on dimensions of health care such as the setting of care (for example, primary care), the type of person receiving care (children or older people, for instance), or the type of care provider (such as nurses).
