Cochrane will be attending the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), taking place in New York from the 21st to the 29th of September 2025.
At a time when evidence and collaboration matter more than ever, we will be highlighting the role of trusted evidence in driving better decisions for global health, building on our engagement at the World Health Assembly in May.
UNGA is a global forum where representatives of members states have equal representation and can discuss international issues, including peace and security, human rights, and global development.
Noncommunicable diseases and mental health
This year, alongside important topics such as gender equality and AI governance, global health will take centre stage. Heads of States and Government will meet to set a new vision for the prevention and control of noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) and the promotion of mental health and wellbeing towards 2030 and beyond through a new, ambitious and achievable Political Declaration.
Cochrane Rehabilitation have been working in coalition with the World Rehabilitation Alliance to ensure that important progress in being made to integrate rehabilitation into the Political Declaration, recognizing its vital role in improving quality of life and well-being for people living with NCDs.
Engagement with our partners
Continuing from where we left of at the World Health Assembly, Cochrane’s External Relations and Development Director, Nicky Benn, spoke to Devex about the urgent need to mobilize investment, calling on governments to fulfil their commitments to tackle the NCD and mental health burden.
In partnership with Devex, we are co-hosting the NCD Pavillion Evening Social – an intimate gathering to connect, reflect, and build partnerships to advance the future of equitable health systems.
