The University of Southern Denmark, working in close collaboration with the Musculoskeletal Statistics Unit, The Parker Institute, Bispebjerg and Frederiksberg Hospital, has established a new Cochrane Musculoskeletal satellite which will gather, evaluate, and distribute reviews on the effects of intervention and preventions strategies for people with musculoskeletal diseases, especially osteoarthritis.
Under the direction of Hans Lund, Associate Professor at University of Southern Denmark and Professor at Bergen University College (HiB), a Nordic satellite of the Cochrane Musculoskeletal Group has been founded. The satellite office for Cochrane Musculoskeletal will be closely related to the Research Unit for Musculoskeletal Function and Physiotherapy, the Center for Muscle and Joint Health, The Institute for Sports Science and Clinical Biomechanics, Faculty of Health, University of Southern Denmark (SDU), Odense, Denmark. The new satellite office will also have close connections with the research group SEARCH (Synthesis of Evidence and Research), a research group with members from Aalborg, Copenhagen, and Odense in Denmark.
The new Cochrane Satellite is situated in the new building focused on research about muscle and joint health at the University of Southern Denmark.
The Editorial Team behind the satellite includes Hans Lund (SDU and HiB), senior biostatistician Robin Christensen, and Carsten Juhl. Activities in the group will be co-ordinated by Julie Bolvig, who is in charge of the daily function of the office.
The group behind the satellite has been very active within Cochrane and teaching evidence-based health care for the last 15-20 years. So far the group has published textbooks, written articles and, not least, contributed to many Cochrane Reviews.
