Euphrasia’s commitment to Cochrane stems from a belief in informed health decision-making, which she now champions through her work with the Cochrane Patient and Public Network.

What motivated you to get involved in Cochrane's evidence community?

My greatest motivation was Cochrane's vision of helping people make informed health care decisions.

Since becoming involved with Cochrane, what is a particular moment or project you are proud of?

I’m proud of my involvement and engagement in Cochrane and I have memories of several special moments. Nevertheless, there’s one that brings tears of joy to my eyes each time of think of it; that’s the physical meeting of the Cochrane Patient and Public Network Executive and community at the London 2023 Colloquium. It felt like a family reunion.

Can you share a story where you or someone you know were involved in health research, and how that experience led to a significant impact on your own life or the lives of others?

My relatives, acquaintances and myself are now more inquisitive about health care information thanks to our involvement in health research. As an example, one of our patient advocates, is now very passionate for informed health decision-making and is now a very active community health worker, thanks to his involvement in the Cameroon Consumer Service Organizations (CamCoSO, initially consumer evidence mentorship programme).

What resource, organization, learning opportunity, or mentor helped you most when starting your Cochrane journey?

The past Consumer Engagement Officer, Richard Morley, the Cochrane Patient and Public Network Executive team, Evidence Essentials, and the Cochrane Colloquium.

What advice or tips would you give others interested in getting involved with Cochrane?

Be open-minded, inquisitive, courageous enough to be odd, and passionate about making and helping other make informed health choices.
