Join us for an engaging, discussion-based webinar featuring Francesco Nonino and Edo Richard - two authors of the Cochrane Review “Amyloid‐beta‐targeting monoclonal antibodies for people with mild cognitive impairment or mild dementia due to Alzheimer’s disease.” Moderated by Toby Lasserson, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Cochrane Library, this session offers a unique behind-the-scenes perspective on the process of publishing high-profile evidence in a rapidly evolving and scrutinized field.
Rather than focusing on formal presentations, this interactive, “no slides” session will explore the authors’ first hand experiences—from conducting and publishing the review to navigating the public and professional response that followed. The conversation will also consider the broader implications for Alzheimer’s research, evidence-based medicine, and the challenges of maintaining trust in science amid growing scrutiny and debate. The session will run for up to 60 minutes, including dedicated time for audience questions.
Presenter Bios
Francesco Nonino is a neurologist and epidemiologist, director of the Unit of Epidemiology and Statistics at the IRCCS Institute of Neurological Sciences of Bologna, Italy. His expertise in clinical epidemiology. evidence synthesis and development of clinical practice guidelines, pairs with clinical outpatient practice as senior consultant in neurology. He is senior editor of the Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, joint co-ordinating editor of the Cochrane Review Group Multiple Sclerosis and Rare Diseases of the CNS, and director of the Cochrane Italia Geographic Group. He is also an active member of the GRADE Working Group and since 2021 core member of the European Medicines Agency (EMA) Scientific Advisory Group in Neurology (SAG-N).
Edo Richard is a professor of neurology at Radboud University Medical Centre in Nijmegen, The Netherlands. He combines his clinical work, which has a focus on dementia and cerebrovascular disease, with research. His main lines of research are on prevention of dementia, diagnostics, and ethical issues of dementia prevention and early diagnosis. He has done several large investigator-initiated clinical trials. He is the Editor in Chief of the Dutch textbook of neurology. He is a core-member of the scientific advisory group (SAG) neurology at the European Medicines Agency (EMA).
