Cochrane is introducing a 12,000-word count limit for reviews and updates which will apply to all new submissions from July 1st, 2026. One of the principal reasons for reviews being overwritten is due to scope. This is often defined by the inclusion criteria of the research question. Leslie Choi is an Evidence Synthesis Development Editor at Cochrane working with the Methods Support Unit to support authors of priority, complex reviews throughout the development phase.
