What can RevMan do?
RevMan is Cochrane’s purpose-built software for producing high-quality, transparent systematic reviews. It guides authors through every stage of the review process, from structured data entry and analysis to visualizing results with tools such as forest plots, ensuring reviews meet global methodological standards.
Import citations and study data
RevMan makes it easy to import study data and references from Covidence or by using a template. No manual data entry and no need to edit references with our reformatting feature – saving you time. RevMan can also prepare study data for analysis when it does not match the format you want. This includes combining study arms, calculating contrast data, calculating log scale data for rations and calculating SD or SE from different precision statistics.
Set up eligibility criteria
RevMan enables you to define study and synthesis PICOs before extraction, helping you to produce high-quality research.
Generate meta-analyses
RevMan helps you generate different types of meta-analysis automatically or manually with study centric data, no matter how much data you have. This includes:
- Automatic combination of arms, including arm and contrast data, and switching reference arm.
- Pairwise meta-analyses for randomized controlled studies with related forest plots.
- Sensitivity analysis.
- Input arm or contrast data on study.
- Subgroup analyses by structured characteristics based on covariates or intervention.
- Model choice: Random-effects, fixed-effects, Mantel-Haenszel; inverse variance.
- Automatic generation of statistical effect measures: Odds Ratio, Relative Risk, Relative Difference, Mean Difference, Standardized Mean Difference.
- Filter by Covariate.
- Input risk of bias data.
Visualize your results
RevMan makes it easy for you to see your data quickly and clearly. With built-in visualization tools, you can build forest, SROC and funnel plots, carry out risk of bias assessments and produce Summary of Finding tables (coming soon), all in one place. You can also automatically generate a PRISMA flow diagram to show how studies were screened and included – without manual formatting or graphic design tools.
Help writing review articles
RevMan streamlines the process of writing systematic reviews. Use ready-made templates, or your own custom templates, to maintain consistency across projects and reduce effort. You can also follow gold-standard Cochrane methodology with structured headings and guidance built into the writing interface.
