Prophylactic vitamin K for the prevention of vitamin K deficiency bleeding in preterm neonates

Primary objective:
To determine the effectiveness of vitamin K prophylaxis in the prevention of vitamin K deficiency bleeding in preterm infants.

Main comparisons:

1. Vitamin K (via any route of administration) vs. no vitamin K
a. Intramuscular vitamin K vs. no vitamin K
b. Oral vitamin K vs. no vitamin K

2. Intramuscular vitamin K vs. oral vitamin K

3. Intramuscular vitamin K vs. intravenous vitamin K

Subgroup analyses will include studies that used single vs. multiple doses of vitamin K and studies of different vitamin K preparations [(vitamin K1 (phylloquinone) vitamin K2 (menaquinone) or vitamin K3 (menadione)].
