Association between personal conflicts of interest and recommendations on medical interventions

The objectives are to investigate whether:

  • authors of scientific opinion pieces with personal financial conflicts of interest related to drug, device or medical imaging companies are more likely to recommend the companies' products;
  • authors of clinical practice guidelines with personal financial conflicts of interest related to drug, device or medical imaging companies are more likely to recommend the companies' products;
  • drug or device advisory committee members with personal financial conflicts of interest related to drug or device companies are more likely to recommend the companies' products for approval;
  • formulary committee members with personal financial conflicts of interest related to drug companies are more likely to recommend the companies' products;
  • authors of scientific opinion pieces with other types of financial conflicts of interest related to a particular intervention are more likely to recommend the intervention.

This is a protocol.
