C-reactive protein for diagnosing late-onset infection in newborn infants

To determine the diagnostic accuracy of serum C-reactive protein (CRP) measurement in detecting late-onset invasive infection in newborn infants.

To investigate heterogeneity of test accuracy in the included studies. Possible sources of heterogeneity include the cut-off value used to define CRP positivity, use of other bio-markers that make affect thresholds for treatment or other investigations, and the reference standard (Investigations of heterogeneity).

This is a protocol.
