- Abbreviations - possessives and plurals: modified examples by separating examples using possessives and plurals.
- Abbreviations - to avoid and commonly used: deleted "Examples" subheading and replaced it with "Abbreviations to avoid" and "Abbreviations commonly used in Cochrane reviews"; examples moved to appropriate subheadings; modified wording for "Day"; and added "Latin abbreviations used for dosing" to "Abbreviations to avoid".
- Colon: new subheading and guidance added.
- References - supplements: removed supplement table; now refers people to Appendix E of the RevMan User Guide.
- References - reference and study identifiers: modified text about using reference and study identifiers in text.

- References in the text – Cochrane reviews: added guidance about when to use issue with an upper case ‘I’ and a lower case ‘i’.

- Headings and subheadings: the Publishing Policy Group approved changes to the format of headings and subheadings. We have included this new guidance.
