High blood pressure, or hypertension, is a common problem and there are three new reviews of treatments in the fourth issue of The Cochrane Library of 2008. In this Evidence Pod, Jim Wright coordinating editor of the Cochrane Hypertension Group sets the scene on hyptertension, its consequences and treatments; before that, Vijaya Musini describes the drugs tested in the reviews. Balraj Heran, who is responsible for finding the evidence to be assessed in the Hypertension Group’s reviews, and Patricia Fortin will then tell us about the raw material that they used in the reviews and summarise their findings.
