Among the large challenges to be met by global healthcare in the 21st century are the increasing needs of the growing older population. A team of researchers from Scotland and Ireland published a new Cochrane review in July 2011 looking at one targeted intervention which might help: comprehensive geriatric assessment on admittance to hospital. Graham Ellis from Monklands Hospital in Airdrie, Scotland describes their findings.
