There are several Cochrane Reviews of interventions for brushing your teeth, including comparisons of different types of toothbrush and varieties of toothpaste. In December 2013, this list grew with a new review of the effects of using a toothpaste containing an antibacterial agent called triclosan. The authors, Philip Riley (left) from the Cochrane Oral Health Group based in Manchester England, and Thomas Lamont from the University of Dundee Dental School in Scotland, describe the findings; starting with Philip.
