January 1st 2012 saw the death of Professor Alessandro Liberati at the age of 57, from multiple myeloma, shortly after his editorial on the need to re-align patient-oriented and commercial and academic research was published. This podcast contains excerpts from an interview with Alessandro in October 2011, when he described some accomplishments of Cochrane's accomplishments, a few challenges for its future and how he got involved.
