Sender: Karin Hannes [Karin.Hannes@med.kuleuven.ac.be] Subject: News from the Belgian Branch The Belgian Branch of the Cochrane Collaboration is repeating its successful 3-day program on ‘Evidence-Based Medicine in Clinical Practice’, addressing all 5 steps from EBM, for the 6th time on 3-5 May 2006 (in Dutch). A 2-day course program on EBM (March 24-25) as well as a special 1-day program for nurses (May 11), is organized for-French speaking colleagues. More information can be found on our website: www.cebam.be. The Belgian Cochrane Branch assisted in the set-up of a ‘Belgian Campbell Group’ by providing methodological and limited financial support as well as creating opportunities for sociologists, psychologists, criminologists, social workers and other related professions to meet each other in the context of systematic reviewing within social sciences. This support will be continued in 2006. A website from the Belgian Campbell Group will be launched soon. Local experiences regarding collaboration between Cochrane and Campbell can be exchanged with Karin.Hannes@med.kuleuven.ac.be. In last year’s training program for authors of systematic reviews a modest approach to start synthesizing results of qualitative research was presented for the first time. We encourage all centre colleagues to integrate aspects of synthesizing qualitative research in their training programs. Input can be found and asked for in the Cochrane Qualitative Methods Group. http://www.lancs.ac.uk/fass/ihr/research/public/cochrane.htm. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX B.
