Sender: Prathap Tharyan [prathap@cmcvellore.ac.in] Subject: National Provision for the Cochrane Library in India On January 25, 2007 (the eve of the Indian Republic Day), the Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR) signed a three-year contract with John Wiley & Sons to purchase a National Subscription for the Cochrane Library at the point of access for anyone in India. This historic event marks the first entry of a low income country to the list of countries that have purchased national access to this valuable resource for all its residents. This event is also a tribute to the vision of the ICMR, the magnanimity of the publishers to negotiate a price that would be justifiable for resource-constrained country with other compelling priorities, and the support of many within the Collaboration and the WHO. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX B. Sender: Dave Booker [booker@cochrane.de] Subject: The New 'Suggest a Topic' Feature on Cochrane.org Some of you have been confused by those mysterious emails telling you about suggested topics. This is output of a new 'Suggest a Topic' feature on Cochrane.org's subtopic pages (e.g., www.cochrane.org/reviews/en/subtopics/48.html) and on some entity websites. The new system collects suggested topics offered by site visitors; it then sends an automatic email once a month to the contact email address of the relevant entity. Do you have suggestions for improvements/enhancements to this service? We'd love to hear from you. We've already received two suggestions: 1) an option for visitors to provide their email addresses, so CRGs can contact them for discussion. 2) more information about the source of the email. If you would like to test-drive the feature, go to your entity's own subtopics page and add your own suggestion. You'll see it in the monthly email. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX C.
