CCInfo: Electronic news bulletin of The Cochrane Collaboration Special message on CENTRAL: 12 June 2006 Contents: A. Invitation to tell us your views on CENTRAL B. Next issue of CCInfo XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX A. Sender: Karen Robinson [krobin@jhmi.edu] Subject: Invitation to tell us your views on CENTRAL As you know, the Cochrane Collaboration Steering Group (CCSG) decided to review CENTRAL, the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials [one of the databases published in the Cochrane Library] and as a result the CENTRAL Vision Group [CVG] formed in late 2005 is developing a strategic plan for CENTRAL. The remit for the CVG is available at www.cochrane.org/admin/structure.htm#cvg. We recently presented an interim report to the CCSG and you may view the minutes from that discussion in April 2006 in Khon Kaen at www.cochrane.org/ccsg/index.htm A copy of this report should be available on the cochrane.org web site shortly. As part of this process, we completed a survey of TSCs (again thank you for the great response!), and will be completing a survey of people inside and outside of the Collaboration, as well as conducting interviews with key people. We are sending this email as an invitation to complete the survey for people within the Collaboration, including but not limited to those who use or contribute to CENTRAL. The results of this survey will inform decisions about the future of CENTRAL. Completing the survey will ensure that we can take your views into account as recommendations are made about CENTRAL. The survey is accessible at www.cochrane-renal.org/surveys/CVG_internal_survey.php and will be available for submission until *Wednesday 21 June 2006*. Based on pilot testing, we estimate that the survey will take about 15 minutes to complete. We have asked for your name in case we have follow-up questions for you. You may choose to omit your name if you wish. We also ask that you submit your primary (or main) role in the Cochrane Collaboration and your primary entity. This will help us in the analysis. An entity need not submit only one response. That is, each of you is welcome to submit your own personal response. Data collected through the survey will be treated anonymously. Survey results will be presented in aggregrate form without attributing a particular response to any entity or individual. If you have any problems completing or submitting the survey please email gailh2@chw.edu.au Thank you very much indeed for helping us in this way. We really appreciate you making the time and effort to share your views of CENTRAL. Thank you! Karen Robinson, on behalf of CENTRAL Vision Group XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX B.
