Sender: Kay Dickersin [kdickers@jhsph.edu] Subject: New staff at the US Cochrane Center Dear Cochrane colleagues, We are pleased to introduce four individuals joining the US Cochrane Center (USCC). Roberta ("Bobbi") Scherer, PhD is the new Associate Director of the USCC. Bobbi has been involved with the Cochrane Collaboration and the Cochrane Eyes and Vision Group since their beginnings. At the University of Maryland, where she worked side by side with the Baltimore Cochrane Center team, Bobbi assembled the International Register of Clinical Trials in Eyes and Vision which was "handed over" to the CEVG (with whom she continued to work) when it registered in 1997. She has managed the andsearching activities for the US Cochrane Center and CEVG@US for the past 3 years. With the Center's return to Baltimore in Fall 2005, Bobbi has rejoined the team in her current key position. We are thrilled to have Bobbi as our Associate Director and know the Center will benefit immensely with her on board. Please join us in welcoming her to her new position within the Center and CEVG@US. We would also like to introduce Ann Ervin, who has joined the CEVG as Project Director for the CEVG@US (US Satellite of the CEVG). Ann is finishing her doctorate in epidemiology at Johns Hopkins and will assume her post full time this spring. Ann has become fully immersed already in the Cochrane world, and is organizing her first workshop - How to Perform a Systematic Review, for February 5-7 in Sarasota Florida (see www.cochrane.us to sign up). Welcome Ann! Kersti Winny has joined the Center for Clinical Trials at Johns Hopkins and is my new Assistant. While not officially part of the USCC, she will no doubt be in touch with Cochrane collaborators worldwide. Welcome Kersti! Finally, Marianne Hamilton will join the USCC as the full time Consumer Coordinator January 23, and will work directly with CUE (Consumers United for Evidence-based Healthcare) to develop the online evidence-based healthcare course for consumers, secure a national subscription to the Cochrane Library and other projects. Welcome Marianne! We hope to be announcing other new USCC staff (Project Director and Administrative Assistant) soon, rounding out the roster. Laura Coe has been gracious enough to serve with us as a consultant three days a week, and she or Bobbi can be contacted with questions until we identify a Project Director.
