Sender: Jos Verbeek [Jos.Verbeek@ttl.fi] Subject: Cochrane Occupational Health Field - wish list and database It might be good to know for all entities that the Occupational Health Field maintains both a wish list for occupational health reviews and a database with occupational health intervention studies. The database can be accessed through our website www.cohf.fi. We would appreciate it if review groups that are involved in occupational health reviews would mention this to reviewers. We would very much appreciate collaboration on the topics mentioned in our wish list. In addition, if anyone is aware of occupational health topics that should or are going to be reviewed within the Cochrane Collaboration, we would be happy to be involved. Contact: jos.verbeek@ttl.fi. Sender: Gil Ramirez [Gilbert.Ramirez@dmu.edu] Subject: Health Care of Older People Field - new leadership The Health Care of Older People Field is pleased (and very excited) to announce its reorganization and new leadership. For everyone's convenience, we have chosen Des Moines University as the location for the Field's "central office" but we want to emphasize we have incorporated a shared leadership model with representation from Scotland, the Philippines as well as the United States. The primary convenor is Gil Ramirez (former co-director of the former San Antonio Cochrane Center) and the field administrator is Ms. Olivea Mead. Contact information for the field and for Gil and Olivea are as follows: Older.People@dmu.edu; Gilbert.Ramirez@dmu.edu; and Olivea.Mead@dmu.edu. From all of the HCOP leadership (the others include David Stott and Peter Langhorne in Scotland, Shelley de la Vega in the Philippines, and Sue Bravard and Ann York also at Des Moines University) - Hello! Come join us! Let's make this one of the most active entities in the Collaboration! XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX D. Sender: Miranda Cumpston [cochrane@uottawa.ca] Subject: Submission deadline for Cochrane News Dear all, It was wonderful to see so many people enjoying the Colloquium in Melbourne. With so many presentations, posters and meetings, it's clear that all the Cochrane contributors and entities have been very busy over the past year. Now is the time to send in your submissions for Cochrane News, to tell the rest of the Collaboration and our interested stakeholders what you've been doing. The deadline for submissions has been extended to Monday, 7 November (just over a week from today!). All articles are welcome up to 600 words in length, as well as any short announcements. All articles should be submitted to cochrane@uottawa.ca. I look forward to hearing from you soon. Kind regards, Miranda Cumpston Editor, Cochrane News The Canadian Cochrane Network and Centre XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX F. Sender: Emma Veitch [eveitch@plos.org] Subject: New open-access journal, PLoS Clinical Trials Dear All, The Public Library of Science (PLoS) has recently announced a new open-access journal, PLoS Clinical Trials, devoted to peer-reviewing and publishing reports of randomized clinical trials in all areas of health care (http://www.plosclinicaltrials.org). The journal will peer-review and publish all trials that are ethically and scientifically sound, providing they have been registered and reported accurately and in line with CONSORT guidelines. Decisions on publication will be made irrespective of the trial’s size or outcome, therefore helping to overcome the problem of publication bias in the literature. PLoS Clinical Trials is now accepting manuscripts in advance of its spring 2006 launch. Like all content in PLoS journals, the full text of all articles published in PLoS Clinical Trials is immediately and freely available online, to all. Readers can read, download, copy, distribute, and reuse content from articles – the only restriction being that the original author and source must be credited. To find out more please go to www.plos.org or get in touch.
