Sender: Verbeek Jos [Jos.Verbeek@ttl.fi] Occupational Health Field Subject: Exploratory meeting in Singapore (COHF to OSHeR) Change from Occupational Health Field (COHF) to Occupational Safety and Health Review Group (OSHeR) Exploratory Meeting Singapore 13 October 2009 The Occupational Health Field will hold a meeting on 13.10.2009 7.30 a.m. at the Colloquium in Singapore to explore the possibilities to change the field into a review group. The Occupational Health Field (COHF) has been registered with the Cochrane Collaboration (CC) since 2004. In these five years we have gained a lot of experience with knowledge transfer in general and with Cochrane systematic reviews more specifically. Occupational health and safety is a special field for reviewing evidence of interventions. Many interventions, the decision making process and the context of the interventions are different from clinical interventions. Even though we have collaborated pleasantly with a dozen review groups, it is clear that for most groups the scope includes specifically clinical interventions. Therefore, we thought it would be most efficient to concentrate the editorial process of OSH reviews in a separate review group. The scope of the review group will be the same as for the field: all interventions that are aimed at improving occupational health outcomes. Occupational health outcomes are defined as exposure to health hazards at work, health-related behaviour, and occupational diseases, injuries and disabilities including sick leave. In case of overlap with other review groups we will especially concentrate on interventions that are carried out at the workplace. The Finnish Institute of Occupational Health is willing to bear the costs for personnel and infrastructure involved with the review group. We are currently developing a business plan. To find out if there is sufficient support, we will hold an exploratory meeting at the CC Colloquium in Singapore on 13 October 2009 at 7.30 am. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX D.
