Sender: Donna Gillies [Donna_Gillies@wsahs.nsw.gov.au] Subject: Cochrane Author Survey update There were over 1,750 responses to the Author Survey, which closed in October last year. A preliminary analysis of the quantitative findings was presented as a poster and to a meeting of Review Group Co-ordinators at the Freiburg Colloquium. The final quantitative analysis has now been completed and the analysis of responses to open text questions will be finished soon. The report will be disseminated widely as soon as possible once analysis is complete. Thank you to all authors who responded to the Author Survey. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX B. Sender: Mike Clarke [mclarke@cochrane.co.uk] Subject: Funding for UK Review Groups Following an external review in 2008, the Department of Health in England will continue to provide funding towards the costs of 20 Cochrane Review Groups based in the UK, through the National Institute for Health Research. This funding, worth a total of approximately GBP 13 million, will follow the current funding and will cover the period from 2010 to 2015. It is an important acknowledgement of the importance of the work of the Collaboration to the National Health Service. It also represents a major step in the commitment to securing The Cochrane Collaboration's infrastructure. It is hoped that this funding will provide a substantial piece of the foundation from which the Collaboration can move forward with new developments and new initiatives.
