Sender: Jini Hetherington [JHetherington@cochrane.org]; The Cochrane Collaboration Secretariat Subject: Collaboration response to possible pandemic The Cochrane Collaboration shares the widespread concerns being raised about the possibility of a pandemic of influenza. We are updating you on actions that The Collaboration has taken over recent days, and what we will be doing: • We have set up a special task force under Chris Del Mar’s leadership to develop and co-ordinate our response. • We are working with Wiley and the Cochrane website team to provide easier access to Cochrane reviews relevant to the prevention and treatment of influenza. • We will incorporate this information fully into Evidence Aid (http://www.cochrane.org/evidenceaid/project.htm ) as soon as possible. • We will work with the relevant Cochrane Review Groups and other entities to ensure that we have identified all relevant reviews and highlighted their key messages. • We have offered to assist the World Health Organization on the use of evidence in their response. • We recognise that some Cochrane entities may be contacted by the media, members of the public or healthcare practitioners for information. As the various resources are compiled or collated by The Cochrane Collaboration, we will make them available on the Cochrane website so that people can be directed to these resources. • We welcome any comments or suggestions on how the Collaboration should proceed at this time. Please send these direct to Chris Del Mar (cdelmar@bond.edu.au) rather than to all lists, to minimise email overload. (See the Cochrane influenza page at http://tinyurl.com/dk3ukh and Wiley’s page at http://tinyurl.com/d7s2lw.) XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX B. Sender: Jini Hetherington [JHetherington@cochrane.org]; The Cochrane Collaboration Secretariat Subject: New title for RGC Co-ordinators In order to give organisations outside the Collaboration a better understanding of the role of a Cochrane Review Group Co-ordinator (RGC), the Collaboration’s Steering Group, following approval by Co-ordinating Editors, agreed at their mid-year meeting (24 to 26 April) to the request from RGCs to change their title to 'Managing Editor ' with immediate effect. All Collaboration documents and websites will be updated as soon as possible to reflect this decision. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX C. Sender: Jini Hetherington [JHetherington@cochrane.org]; The Cochrane Collaboration Secretariat Subject: New Steering Group Co-Chair The Steering Group has selected Jonathan Craig to replace Adrian Grant when his term as Co-Chair expires this October. Jonathan has been a member of The Cochrane Collaboration since 1998 and is a co-author on 49 reviews and as the Co-ordinating Editor of the Cochrane Renal Group has contributed to the production and updating of all of that Group’s 68 reviews. Jonathan brings a wealth of relevant experience and international recognition as a clinician, researcher, policy maker, journal editor, guideline developer and consumer advocate. Within the Collaboration, he has a leadership role in the Diagnostic Test Accuracy Methods Working Group, the Co-ordinating Editors' Executive and the Co-Eds Methods Working Group, in addition to serving on the Steering Group and several of its advisory groups. Jonathan will be inducted as a Co-Chair during the Singapore Colloquium. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX D.
