Sender: Paula Toro [cochrane.dcn@gmail.com] Subject: Establishment of the Cochrane Developing Countries Network We are pleased to announce the establishment of the Cochrane Developing Countries Network (CDCN), a new entity inside the Collaboration that intends to raise awareness about the minor participation of people living in developing countries in the overall activities of the CC. Recognizing that there are many activities in the Collaboration addressed to or conducted by people from developing countries, the CDCN will take advantage of existing experiences and resources and the potential of a better co-ordination. In the CDCN we look forward to working collaboratively with everyone interested so we can move this important initiative forward. Sender: Álvaro Atallah [atallahmbe@uol.com.br] Subject: Date change of the XV Cochrane Colloquium, São Paulo, Brazil It has been necessary to postpone, by two days, the start of the XV Cochrane Colloquium in São Paulo, Brazil. It will now commence on 23 October and end on 27 October 2007. The reason for this is that there will be a Formula 1 car race in the city at that time, and hotels will be fully booked. Unfortunately, the dates of this Brazilian traditional sporting event had not yet been announced when the dates of the Colloquium were decided. We hope this change of dates will not cause problems for anyone, and look forward to welcoming you in Brazil. You may even wish to arrive in São Paulo two days early, to enjoy the colourful spectacle of the Formula 1 race. You will be able to register for the Colloquium by the end of this month at http://www.colloquiumbrasil.info/php/index.php XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX D. Sender: Dymphna Hermans [dymphna.hermans@ndm.ox.ac.uk] Subject: Changes at the Cochrane Dementia and Cognitive Improvement Group Jacqueline Birks (joint Coordinating Editor) and Kate Hicks (Review Coordinator) have left the Group and I will leave at the end of February. Rupert McShane will remain at the helm as sole Coordinating Editor. Recruitment of the new RGC and TSC is in progress and we expect that CDCIG's temporary closure will be of short duration. I would like to take the opportunity to say how much I have enjoyed being involved in the work of The Cochrane Collaboration and how much I have appreciated working with colleagues who share their time, ideas and resources so generously. It has been a real pleasure. Dymphna Hermans Coordinator and Trial Search Coordinator XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX E.
