The Director, Jeremy Grimshaw, and the staff of the Cochrane entities in Canada would like to take this opportunity to say farewell and a big thank you to Kathie Clark, outgoing Co-Director of the Centre. Kathie has made an outstanding contribution to The Cochrane Collaboration over many years. Cochrane contributors know Kathie through her work with the Monitoring and Registration Group, the regular appearance of CCInfo in our mailboxes, and as Co-Chair of the Steering Group. Kathie has been an integral part of The Cochrane Collaboration in both in Canada and around the world, and she will be greatly missed. Along with Kathie, we are also saying goodbye and thank you to Angus Muir, the Canadian Cochrane Centre's Communications Specialist and Editor of Cochrane News, and Arne Ohlsson, past Director of the Centre, who moved on at the beginning of this year. We thank Kathie, Angus and Arne for their hard work and friendship over the years. We wish them all the best for the future. Sender: Thilo Kober [Tilo.Kober@uk-koeln.de] Subject: New era for CHMG Dear Colleagues and friends On October 3rd, the Cochrane Haematological Malignancies Group (CHMG) celebrates its 5th birthday and important new developments are taking place. On behalf of the CHMG editorial base, I am very pleased to provide you with the following information. Thanks to the vision, nous and political clout of our Coordinating Editor, Professor Andreas Engert, the group was successful in a recent grant application to the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). As a result, the CHMG is now able to continue with its core function for another 3 years (i.e. September 2005 to August 2008). We are also again employing a TSC initially for 9 months, made possible through a joint project between the CHMG and the German National Library of Medicine. There is another development, however, which will have a major impact on the CHMG in the future. After more than 6 years in the driver's seat during the formative years of our young group, I can report "mission accomplished" and, at the height of professional and personal achievements, am returning to Australia in April 2006 to take up new challenges. In order to foster a seamless transition and fill this forthcoming vacancy, please find attached a call for expressions of interest. Ideally, we seek someone with relevant skills and previous experience within the Cochrane Collaboration. However, we will also conduct our searches elsewhere. I am very confident that the next 3 years will herald in a new era for the CHMG, and I see its future as very bright indeed. With best wishes, and hoping to catch up with many of you during the Colloquium, Thilo Thilo Kober Executive Officer Editorial Base Cochrane Haematological Malignancies Group (CHMG) 3rd Floor, Rooms 312-316 Kerpener Str.15 50924 Cologne Germany Tel: +49 (0) 221 710 770 19 Fax: +49 (0) 221 710 770 24 Email: Tilo.Kober@uk-koeln.de Internet: http://www.chmg.de XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX G.
