This edition builds on the last bulletin and in particular flags issues for discussion at the forthcoming Steering Group meeting on 20th to 22nd April. As a representative body, Steering Group members are always pleased to receive feedback and advice on important issues. The Bulletin also notes forthcoming vacancies on the Steering Group. It remains important that good quality candidates with a commitment to playing their part in shaping the Collaboration's strategic direction come forward for election. All meetings that have already been agreed with the conference organisers are now simply two days later. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX C. Sender: Bruce Arroll [b.arroll@auckland.ac.nz] Subject: The Cochrane Primary Health Care Field changes locations The General Practice and Primary Care Department of the University of Auckland has become the convenor of the Cochrane Collaboration’s Primary Care field. This will be done in conjunction with Departments of General Practice in Dublin and Nijmegan (Netherlands). The role the Cochrane Primary Health Care Field is to ensure that the Primary Care voice is heard in the Collaboration and that reviews that are relevant to primary care are included. Another role is to ensure dissemination. One of the ways of doing this will be to prepare “pearls” (Practical Evidence About Real Life Situations) which will summarise a Cochrane review in about 150 words with a numbers needed to treat and to harm and some information on context. The pearls will be on reviews where treatment should be considered if not being used or should be stopped if of no benefit.
