Professor Alessandro Liberati

It is with great sorrow that The Cochrane Collaboration announces the death of our colleague and friend, Professor Alessandro Liberati, Director of the Italian Cochrane Centre, on Sunday, 1 January 2012, following a long and courageous struggle with multiple myeloma. Our thoughts and condolences are with Alessandro's family, friends and colleagues in Italy and around the world. Alessandro’s contributions to evidence-based health care span more than 25 years, and his involvement in The Cochrane Collaboration dates from its foundations. His enthusiasm, scholarship and advocacy will be sorely missed throughout the Cochrane community.
A web page has been created for people to express condolences, recount memories and share photographs: http://www.cochrane.org/alessandro-memory-book
