The Cochrane Collaboration’s funding model reflects the international and dispersed nature of the organisation. While its core income (income paid directly to the Collaboration and used to sustain its information management system, research programmes, website etc) comes principally from the proceeds of The Cochrane Library and other Cochrane products, its entities are supported by national governments, international governmental and non-governmental organisations, universities, hospitals, private foundations, and personal donations. The Collaboration has taken the decision not to accept funding from conflicted organisations such as pharmaceutical companies.
This page lists the Collaboration’s entities’ direct funders for the financial year 2008-9, as declared by entities to the Monitoring and Registration Group; data for 2009-10 will be posted as it becomes available. Entities are also indirectly supported by a number of universities, hospitals and research organisations not listed here, who grant access to their resources.
