Pilot Mentoring Programme for Review Group Co-ordinators

Between February 2008 and March 2009, Managing Editors (ME) who were new to their post received a visit from a mentor, an experienced Managing Editor who introduced them to the intricacies of the position and offered ongoing support. The visit was made possible through a funded pilot mentoring programme.

Mentors for the pilot programme were:

  • Kate Cahill (UK and Europe)
  • June Cody (UK and Europe)
  • Vicki Pennick (North/South/Central America)
  • Narelle Willis (Australasia)

We encouraged editorial bases (outgoing ME/Co-Ed, or others as appropriate) to keep the Secretariat and/or the Monitoring and Registration Group advised of staff changes so that new MEs could be invited to take part in the induction programme. Effective May 1st, 2009, the pilot is completed and the team is preparing their report and recommendations for a future training initiative. This website will be updated when plans are finalized.

For more information, contact Vicki Pennick (vpennick@iwh.on.ca).

The ME Induction and Mentoring Programme is funded by a Cochrane Opportunities Fund grant and is being piloted by the ME Training/Induction Working Party comprising: Jane Cracknell, Vicki Pennick, Megan Prictor, Jessica Thomas.
