Evidence & the media

Behind the Headlines offers "an unbiased and evidence-based analysis of health stories that make the news ... intended for both the public and health professionals" for the UK. It is produced by the NHS Knowledge Service.

EvidenceNetwork.ca is "a non-partisan web-based project funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and the Manitoba Health Research Council to make the latest evidence on controversial health policy issues available to the media [and to link] journalists with health policy experts to provide access to credible, evidence-based information."

 HealthNewsReview.org assesses the accuracy of news stories about medical treatments in the US media in order to improve the reporting and to help consumers evaluate the evidence. It is produced by Gary Schwitzer and a team of reviewers.

Media Doctor Australia, a partner site of HealthNews Reviews, assesses the accuracy of news stories about medical treatments in the Australian media. It is produced by at the Newcastle Institute of Public Health, Australia.

Media Doctor Canada, a partner site of HealthNews Reviews, assesses the accuracy of news stories about medical treatments in the Canadian media. It is produced by by academics and clinicians from across Canada.

Media Doctor Hong Kong, a sister site of Media Doktor Australia, assesses the accuracy of news stories about medical treatments the Chinese media (in English and Chinese). It is produced by a panel of academics and clinicians based in Hong Kong.

Media Doctor Japan, a sister site of Media Doktor Australia, assesses the accuracy of news stories about medical treatments in the Japanese media (in Japanese). It is produced  in Japan.

medien-doktor.de, a partner site of HealthNews Reviews, assesses the accuracy of news stories about medical treatments in the German media (in German). It is produced by journalists at the Technical University Dortmund in Germany.

medizin-transparent.at assesses the accuracy of news stories about medical treatments in the Austrian media (in German). It is produced by the Department for Evidence-based Medicine and Clinical Epidemiology at the Donau-Universität Krems.
