National prizes and awards
Eligibility for the prizes on this page is limited to those contributors to The Cochrane Collaboration residing in the country or countries stipulated in the prize conditions.
Canadian Cochrane Review of the Year Award
One award will be given annually to the lead or contact Canadian author of a new or updated Cochrane review. Selection criteria will include the use of high quality methods; the review's impact relating to healthcare practice, policy, research, or for consumers; and clarity of writing and presentation. The winner will receive free Symposium registration plus some funds toward travel and accommodation to attend the Symposium.
Cochrane Canada's Graduate Student Poster Competition
Each year Cochrane Canada will award the Graduate Student Poster Prize to a registered Master's or Doctoral student as lead author of a poster presented at the Canadian Cochrane Symposium. Posters are judged on originality of thought, high quality science, relevance for the advancement of knowledge according to one of the symposium themes, and clarity of presentation. The winner receives free Symposium registration.
The DKV-Cochrane Preis (German)
The DKV-Cochrane Preis is awarded annually for evidence-based guidelines development, studies for implementation and evaluation of evidence-based medicine, systematic reviews (meta-analyses) or methodologically outstanding original work, which answers a question relevant to the practice of health care according to the principles of evidence-based medicine. The prize is sponsored by the Deutsche Krankenversicherung AG (DKV), and awarded by the German Cochrane Centre. The winning entry receives a cash award of EUR €10,000 (about GBP £7,000). The NICS Cochrane Users Award
The NICS Cochrane Users Award is given annually for the best use of research-based information contained in The Cochrane Library to enhance patient care. Any person who is involved in health care in Australia, either as a provider or recipient, is eligible to enter. The prize is sponsored by the National Institute of Clinical Studies. The total value of the award is AUD $20,000 (about GBP £8,000), to be divided among several awards. More information is available at the NICS Cochrane Users website.
